subframe connectors

I have a set of subframe connectors from a '98 T/A I use to own, they never seemed to make it on the car for some reason. My question is can I use them on my '87 T/A. Ive heard the chassis between the 3rd and 4th gens. is the same, is this true?

Re: subframe connectors

Not quite the same.

You might be able to modify them to fit though. I believe the front subframes are different.

I think on the 4th gens, the car has threaded holes already in the subframes. The connectors make use of these to hold them in position for welding. Also, I think the 4th gen front subframes are a little different shape.

Somebody else will probably chime in and tell you a definate answer.

Re: subframe connectors

The front "subframe" is very different and the modifications required to fit them would probably out weight fabbing a set or selling and buying the right set.

Re: subframe connectors

Selling and buying the right set is probably the best idea. That way, there is no chance of ruining a good set of 4th gen SFC's because then they would just be scrap metal.
