hotchkis springs too small?

I just received a pair of hotchkis 19830016 front drop springs for my firebird and went to put them on but they look so small (thickness wise) compared to the originals. Is this right? I have never put in a set of after market lowering springs into a thirdgen. Thanks for any help

Re: hotchkis springs too small?

They appear to be too narrow, not the actual coil thickness. Maybe fourth gen springs?

Re: hotchkis springs too small?

I ordered a set of Hotchkiss springs in a kit and the front springs were too small. Double check your numbers and contact Hotchkiss to see if maybe they boxed the wrong ones. Took me about a week but got the right ones in and man can I feel the road now! (Wife hates it! Too bumpy! lol)

My brother. IRocjoyce had to send those springs back to jegs. The wrong ones were packaged by Hotchkis.

Hi. I'm having the same issue x 3 times. I purchased 1903F springs from 3 different sellers (Summit, Hotchkis Garage, and Madcheetah(an Ebay seller) - I know, crazy, but with the free return shipping I figure why not. And they all sent me the same spring, which is smaller in diameter than the original and also taper.

The last ones came from Summit and am about to return these as well. I'm pretty sure these are not the front springs. Does anybody know what's going on?

Re: hotchkis springs too small?

They are boxed wrong, probably had a huge batch done that way. Return them and call Hotchkiss and tell them the problem

Re: hotchkis springs too small?

When Mine were shipped to me, years ago now, they were the wrong ones. Boxed fist gen ones in a third gen box.

FINALLY FIGURED THIS ONE OUT!

Although hotchkis sells their coil spring set as 1903, individually, their rear springs are 1903R and front springs are 1902F, not 1903F. Slightly confusing, I know.

1903F's are for fourthgen's. Fun fact, thirdgen and fourthgen share the same rear spring 1903R.

Hope nobody else runs into this problem!
