To anyone who has used the rag joint eliminator...
After you installed it, was your steering well off center? After I put on the rag joint eliminator and the rebuilt quick ratio box on my steering wheel is off center, but too much to be fixed by an alignment. I've been thinking about just buying one of the new aftermarket intermediate shafts off eBay but I'm worried about how long even a new rag joint will last before I start getting play again.

Sorry to hijack, but whats this rag joint eliminator and where can I find one? I've never liked the little rubber coupling very much. Is this a solid metal piece or something like a poly unit?

Why not just insure the gear box is actually centered then pull the steering wheel and put it back on straight?

I found out what the problem was, the pitman arm can ONLY be put on one of 4 ways so it's very unlikley to get that wrong. The I-shaft also has a flat spot in it so I assumed it could only go on one way, WRONG. I adjusted it and now the steering column is damn near straight so it could be fixed with an alignment now.
