How much better will my car ride with Bilsteins?
Versus the 2 year old, 7k mile KYBs I have in it now??
My car rides like crap. Every third gen rides like crap...lets face it. My 4th gen is like a Lexus, and always has been, compared to all 3 of my third gens. With that said, I have GR2s front and rear IIRC. How much difference in ride quality will I notice with Bilsteins? I wasn't willing to spend the $$$ 2 years ago, and I had OEM crap in it, so anything was better...
Also, if all my front end components are tight, and all my bushings look ok, is it still worth it to replace this stuff in the name of better handling and/or ride quality? Thanks to anyone who can help...my fiancee hates riding in my RS, but she needs to get used to it

I really really like mine. I have about 20K on them. It is firm but not bumpy.
I also run a V6 rear swaybar on the street and change it to a 3rdgen WS6 bar when I hit the dragstrip. Its WAY better on the street when your hitting a off ramp hard and hit a bump.
I think that the Bilsteins have better rebound control than the KYBs, ESP If you r running a heavier rearend (like a 9" )you will like the control better.

Anyone else have any additional experience with this? The car handles well for what I use it for (spirited cruising), but the ride is objectionable to my fiancee, and I plan on driving it at least 5k miles this summer. I don't want to listen to her the whole time
If the Bilsteins don't aid ride very much, I'll wait until the KYBs get a little older...I have enough on my plate for this year with this car!

Do you dislike the ride you get with the KYBs? I have KYB gas struts all around in my 86 v8 sport coupe and I love it, I mean I can see how someone thats not into sports cars wouldnt and there seems to be a fair amount of posts complaining about this but I dont think its so much peoples shock choices these cars are PURPOSEFULLY very stiff they have very little body roll and that helps allot with handling at the speeds thier capable of going (125+ stock???? help me out here I only have an 85mph speedo) if the car floated around like a cadilac it would be all over the road, keep in mind were dealing with an allmost 30 year old desighn, and I think it works perfectly for what its supposed to and people maybe see past that purpose allot and compare to newer sports cars... also, you've got some good looking cars man =)
Re: How much better will my car ride with Bilsteins?
i feel that your kyb's are a close match to stock and will ride nicer but will have less control then the bilsteins. as for our cars being an old design i will still trust my life to there abilities over most new cars...lol. i have an 86 iroc and one night i was just leaving work and my fiance called me and told me she thought someone was in our house. with her in it.....so needless to say my 145 speedo was bairied for the duration....lol of the drive home. at that time the car had built engine trans and rear. but all stock suspension sept for crappy monroe sensa tracs.i had very good tires on it to the car felt like it was on rails even at those speeds and age. the brakes on the other hand were fading bad!!!!!!!!!!!! ride quality is a personal prefferance and most of the cars i have had have been crap for ride quality but handled like no other. i dont mind a solid ride to me thats how a car should ride unless you buy a caddy or something like that. to me a suspension set up for handling and gives up some ride comfort is safer then driving a car that floats down the road.....lol. id rather give up comfort for control any day
