shocks, springs, and head thru ttop
shocks, springs, and head thru ttop
now i know these cars arent supposed to ride like a cadillac, but i dont think im supposed to hit the roof when i hit a decent bump either. im assuming a new set of shocks and springs will help me out here... im looking for a set that will give me good control at the strip but not put my head through my ttop on the street. these massachusetts roads r brutal. you guys have any advice on what to look for??
any help would be awesome

your shocks are probably shot and new springs would help the car
if you drive any car into a crater in the road it will throw you around. NJ is not much better. But as a car they have a rather stiff suspension so they will be quite rough on bad roads.

My car rides like a dream.... in my humble opinion though.
Im assuming you are being sarcastic with the "head hitting the roof" scenario. Because Im a rather large individual (6'4), and even when my car was stock with worn out suspension it wasnt THAT bad. If you are getting tossed that much, something is either seriously wrong, or you need to pick a new route to work
Replacing your shocks/springs with good aftermarket parts will go a long way to make the ride better. I also believe that things like sub frame connectors, while possibly making the car stiffer, allow the other parts to do their jobs better. I noticed a better "feel" after my SFCs went in. I put feel in quotes because Im sure it was just the lack of rattles and sqeaks that used to be there making it feel like it was riding better.
Definitly fix things that are worn out or broken...then get some good shocks/springs and you'll noticed a nice change.

A good set of springs and shocks will make a world of differance in the ride.If money is tight, even a set of OE style shocks would be a great improvement. I got a set of 1" drop springs w/matched shocks from Topika, and they ride and handle great.

Started by installing sub frame connectors, wonder bar, and welded parts of the chassis to stiffen things up. Then I went with tubular rear control arms, adjustable tq arm, adjustable panhard bar all in the rear. Poly bushings for everything.
In the front I put all new bushings, all new steering parts from the box over to the idler, and I installed spohn solid strut mounts.
Topped it all off with used Eibach pro-kit springs, and bilstein shocks at all 4 corners. My car has never felt better. So tight, so quiet, so responsive....but still rides very nice. Hard bumps will jar you a bit....but its not bad. Most of the time it doesnt feel like Im riding in a corner carver. Everything is Spohn except for shocks and springs. And Ive been 100% happy with it all.
