Swap 91 F-bird to performance suspension

Has anyone done this swap? We have a 92 Firebird w/ V8 that handles like a marshmallow. We also have an 89 Formula with Performance Handling Pkg. Considering making the swap with new struts and bushings. Any thoughts?

New struts/shocks and bushings--as well as other OE and after market suspension pieces--will improve either vehicle. May I ask why you wish to swap one to the other?

The 89 Formula was hit in the rear quarter panel and will be headed to the salvage yard later this summer. The 92 Firebird is a decent car it just doesn't handle like the Formula does.

You might check the sway bars. Some Firebirds, TA, etc. had the hollow 36 mm, solid 24 mm combo, a desirable set, IMO. How about rear discs, limited slip, or gear ratio? Those might be desirable as well. I'd purchase new springs before I'd swap the old ones in (a set of Moog IROC style springs would be a good choice and are relatively inexpensive). New trans and torque arm mounts, sway bar bushings, and end links would be a good place to start replacement. And, of course, a search will provide a ton of other suggestions. Check my Car Details for some.
