Re: Herb Adams
They are gone from what I can tell..
I used to have his rod end lcas and 1inch solid rear sway bar on my car. My dad put them on in 1983..
Still have the bar, was just about to put it in the classifieds for free + shipping actually..

His son runs VSE, Very Special Equipment in CA. They do mostly Cobras. Not sure if they still sell any of the F-car stuff. YOu could ask, I guess.
Herb is a pretty old dude at this point in time, but working for AAM. Nice guy, I'd talk to him now and then when I used to work there.

He's still around. After searching through the above link, it looks like he started another company.

Re: Herb Adams
Yeah, my favorite old story was about the early early days of Trans Am. I can't tell story's very well so here it is from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Am_Series
Bold added by me.
LMAO!
The shop he works in now is near my current work. Last time I stopped by was spring 2009. I seen the blue car and they were working on the black one:http://passion-motors.com/CONTESSASPECIFICATIONS.aspx It really is quite amazing what they are building between the two of them (Herb and his son Matt).
As evidence of the original modified production car concept, a fan favorite in the early '70s was the "Grey Ghost",[3] a '64 Pontiac Tempest, prepared by legendary Pontiac Chief Engineer Herb Adams[4] and a group of his young proteges. The boxy six year old Tempest, had once been Adams' wife's daily driver, with reportedly over 80,000 miles (130,000 km) on the odometer when it was turned into an A Sedan racer. It proved to be surprisingly fast, at a time when even a one year old car was considered out of step with the competition. It was entered in the opening round of the 1971 Trans-Am Championship. Unable to qualify, the car was allowed to start from the back of the pack. With Bob Tullius behind the wheel, it mowed through the field, and was running second behind eventual winner Mark Donohue's factory-supported Penske Racing AMC Javelin when the engine broke.[5] Tullius would go on to win back to back Trans-Am Championships, in 1977 and '78.
