Hey guys. I just bought a camaro and i am about to put some cragars on it. Well a few of the lugnuts that are currently on the truck are either cracked, swollen, or both. I am not sure how to get the lugnuts of. My socket is either to big or to small b/c of these issue.

Does anyone have a little trick to get them off so i can put my new wheels on?

Thanks

Re: cracked lugnuts
Swollen lug nuts huh? Better watch where you're sticking your tire iron...

Seriously though, I don't think they can "swell" unless it's just rust on them, in which case I would try to knock off as much as possible, and drive the lug wrench on with a hammer.

Some lugs are actually just a nut, with a chrome cap on it. You could try driving a screw driver into the cap, and see if it punches through. If it does, find a way to get that chrome cap off, and then use your wrench on the nut.

Re: cracked lugnuts
well i know its not a cap covering the lug nut. its just a lugnut on there. And maybe its not swollen, but the way it is cracked made the lugnut bigger on the sides than it normaly is. i dunno if i can explain it lol

anyways maybe ill just try and pound an old socket on and wrech it off that way

Re: cracked lugnuts
cheap chrome lugnuts get rust under the cover/coating and flare out

Just hammer the socket over them
