S10 Manual Steering
S10 Manual Steering
I know this has been gone over many times.
I know so far I need a gearbox out of an 84 and up 4 cyl S10, the Camaro pitman arm works best, and it will bolt right on.
My two questions are.
I have not found a part # for a serpintine belt, or a belt length, without powersteering.
I have also read that the sway bar will be in the way, and it will have to come off.
I know the wheels will be harder to turn, yes right now it is somewhat of a DD, I don't care, I bought it to race it.
It is an 89 RS, TBI 305

with manual steering, you gotta be one strong dude to muscle around a track through the corners.
id get rid of the sway bar.
you are going to have to get creative on the belt.
ive seen some guys put a dummy pulley where the power steering bolted up. much like the a/c delete or the smog pump delete pulley.

Re: S10 Manual Steering
Out of curiousity, what else do you have planned for the car in the near future? I'm asking because I assume there is going to be a big HP bump with a new engine to make going to manual steering worth doing. As for the sway bar, going to manual steering only seems to make sense if you're making a drag racing car that already lost the sway bar and likely is going to have skinny wheels up front.
