widening wheels and backspacing, ive confused myself bad.
1st of all, i did search... lol. but after reading so many threads i think i have confused myself to much. so here is my ?;
I am looking to get a set of the 17x8 IROC replicas from custom wheels market. http://customwheelsmarket.com/d650782.html Im sure we all know this kind. I found a place to widen them to 17x11 and i dont really care it costs $200 a wheel and shiping is going to kill me.
I am running a stock 3rd gen 10 bolt with disc brakes (prob do a big brake upgrade/c5 brakes later) and these rims have a +0mm (4.50" backspacing). what kind of spacer would i need 2 buy to fit these out back and would i need any kind of spacer up front if i kept these the stock 17x8? i dont think ill need any spacer for the front, but i will need a 1 1/2 inch spacer for the rears. am i correct, or will i need more spacing? if more, how much more and when is it concidered TO much spacing from a safety aspect? i am hoping the only mod i need 2 do t othe rear fender is roll the lip and "massage" the inner fender/wheel well. thanks for the help!

glad 2 c all the replys. but i figured it out. i shouldnt need any spacer, as long as the tire doesnt rub on the inside. if id does and i can not "massage" enough room, ill either have to modify the wheel well/mini tub it, or add a spacer of what difference i need.

AZ406, you posted your original question and a second post of "thanks for the replies" almost exactly 12hours apart. Give people some time to even see the post. We don't hover around like flies waiting to see a new steamer come up to jump on.
Glad you figured your wheel issue out though. A search through the forums would have yielded A BUNCH of info on backspacing, wheel / tire combos, and I think even the 17x11 wheels and what's needed to run them. As far as the 7x8 wheel as long as the backspacing is close (within .5" either way) I believe they'll work without spacers. I'm running ROH 17x8's up front without spacers adn a 235/40/R17 tire and have no issue.
Good luck and post some pics when your done.
