its time to buy lowering springs. does any one have any pics of vogtland springs on there car?? or hotchkis? i want the height to be in between the prokit and the the sportlines?

 

any ideas? i have tried to do research on vogtland but i havent found anything yet so im going to give them a call ask for pics..

 

whats the lowering rate on them? how much drop?

 

its supposed to be 1.2 " drop front and back

hmm i dunno i have the eibachs idsay just go with a good name in performance that way they will last forever and not give out. and i think they have the same lowering height mine is about 1.2 or something. front and rear

 

dont quote me till you get a deffinate answer but i think the vogtland springs are soft. i would just get a pro kit. anything more is a pain in the but to drive. i had sportlines and went to the prokit.

 

Get the Ground Control weight jacks, and you can select the spring rate you want & decide what ride eight is right for YOU, & change the ride height later, without buying new springs.

Or if you decide you want stiffer or softer springs, you can do that too, & still adjust the ride height were YOU want it to be.

 

well right now i have the 1le springs i believe and they are pretty stiff and i dont want anything stiffer then those. i will probably ending with the prokit but i want to weigh other options. How are hotchkis???

this is the how the car sits there is a slight dip towards the sidewalk.

If the rear sits too high, you can remove the rear spring isolators, and put a section of garden hose around the top coil. Lowers the rear about 1/2" to 3/4".

 

i really dont see a difference in the way the car sits. i noticed a slight gap difference in my rs but that was before i redid the whole suspension....
anyways im sure hotchkis or eibach would be great. do a search on the hotchkis springs im sure someone did a aftermarket review on them.

I put on the prokit and i love em. not too much lowering and handles great. the rear has a slight gap between the tire and fender but im gonna do what he mentioned ^^^ and take out the thick coil to frame seperators out to give the rear that slight extra drop...

Definitely the Pro Kit, Not to soft, not to low. But what about B&G?

My plan is to hopefully lower my car to where the top of the tire is level with the fender lip, giving no gap between the tire and fender well. i dont want to tuck them inside but just level with the fender lip. I think I can acheive that with about a 1.5" drop, might remove those isolators as well, we will see.

B&G States a 1.6" drop front and rear, but no spring rates. I think they are softer than the pro-kit?

Can you take some pics of your car with the stock rims with the prokit? I want to lower my car about 1-1.3 inchs all the way around. I was looking into the summit springs to but cant find to many pics of them installed

Scroll down in the first post, you will see the drop rates (proven drop rates) as well as their owners pictures. I want to go about the drop of dropzones but with a higher spring rate. Something like 800lb in front with a 250 in the rear. Might look into weight jacks and adapt for street use.

Edit: Just got back from the Auto Show and saw 2 camaro's with Sportlines with the rake look. I liked how low the car was in the front but didn't look good in the rear.

why not just get tires that are smaller - height wise. the standard is 26 inches - so go wider and get 25 inches of height - that drops you down 1/2 inch.

 

while that is technically correct, the most noticable change when you lower a vehicle (via different springs) is that the gap between the fender and tire gets smaller. By reducing the tire diameter by 1", you lower the car by .5" and increase the wheel to fender gap by .5" also, so the car may actually appear to be higher than it was before. That's why I considered using 1" taller tires along with my pro-kit. I would have nearly stock ground clearance and sportline-like fender gap.

 

you have the right idea im going for fender gap. What size tires do you have?

 

what do you mean by "rake"? im assuming how the wheels drop into the fenders a bit. anyways, i dont have the stock wheels on anymore i upgraded to 18" IROC's and they look great all around excellent in the front the rears could be better so im going to take out the hard plastic coil dampners and put some rubber gasket or gardening hose to get that little drop that it could use and im sure after that ill have the great drop handling and the looks as well. hope you get a better idea overall now.

 

dspencer24, I still have original size 245/50r16. I was considering going to 18" rims and getting tires with an overal diameter of approximately 27" rather than the stock 25.6". Turns out I'm staying with the 16s though.

samiam91rs, rake usually refers to when a car is lower in the front than it is in the back. I found my original springs to make the car higher in front and lower in back and going to the pro-kit all around leveled it out. I may have just had saggy rear springs though.

 

My stock springs sat me at 26" front, 27" rear, ground to fender lip edge.

 

I'm going to check mine today just to see, since its been sitting for 2 1/2 years. I'd like to know where its sitting now.
