B&M Megashifter
I was thinking about replacing my stock shifter with the B&M Megashifter replacement for the third gen Camaro. I know some people on here have done it, so I just wanted to know how hard they are to put in and how they look installed in the car before I drop $200 on something that may look horrible. And if you are selling one, or know where to get one for less let me know. Thanks.

Oh crap. My mouse slipped just as I moved this. It was supposed to go into the transmission forum
The third gen specific Megashifter is an easy swap but like most shifters it's a personal preference. I had a Megashifter in my car years ago and didn't like it.

Re: B&M Megashifter
Positives
Looks like it belongs in 3rd Gen.
Easy to install.
1-2-3 slam upshifts Nice and positive.
Negatives
Pain in the --- until broken in finding Reverse without
using two hands. Very stiff.
Newer models might be better.
Cure/ Shorter 3' cable.
Brace mounting to tunnel.
Really like mine

Re: B&M Megashifter
Hmm...I've always kinda wanted a manual though. I just read the sticky on doing a transmission swap and I'm part way convinced that may be better. But I'll have to check out prices and do some more comparisons. Thanks for the advice guys!

Re: B&M Megashifter
pros:
looks awesome
makes having an auto ALMOST fun
once you get it in, its almost bulletproof
cons:
MAJOR PAIN IN THE A$$ TO INSTALL
if you get the cable at all kinked, forget it... when they say loop it on top of the trans tunnel, they mean go from the shifter thru the floor, in a loop on top of the tranny case, and to the shifter on the transmission.
you have to hack up your wiring (someone on the board cleverly found a way around this but i found out too late)
getting the reverse lights and ignition switches right is another MAJOR PAIN IN THE A$$.
overall, i recommend it.
if you read the directions a few times it gets pretty easy to remember all the stuff you have to do.
just take your time and follow the directions explicitly.
if you can afford it, have it installed by a pro.
seriously, installation is the only thing i hated about it, but the shifter itself is amazing.
