LCARB'S
My car isn't getting as much traction as I want it to and I was just wondering how much of a difference it would be if I put a set of the UMI lower control arm relocation brackets on. Do they really help that much, or is there some other things that I should look into?

Re: LCARB'S
first, what rear do you have?
is it open or posi?
if its open, then thats your problem
next
how are your tires?
if your tires suck, you wont hook. period...
if you have good tires and a posi rear end, then i would say LCARBS are for you.
otherwise, you can do it, but it wont get much better until you address at least the tires.
edit:
ok, just saw you had 3.73 posi listed in sig, so lets assume this is true.
i still stand by the statement about tires though.
you dont need anything exotic, but decent tires should not be overlooked.

Re: LCARB'S
If your car is lowered, LCARBs are a must to regain traction.
If your car isn't lowered, the bottom setting on the LCARBS will not help. Possibly make it even worse. They are primarily a traction aide for lowered cars, to correct suspension geometry.

So since my car isn't lowered, your saying that they wont help my traction problem?

Re: LCARB'S
if you want to do the LCARBS, i would recommend not putting them on the lowest setting.
start on the highest or "closest to stock"
see if that makes you happy.
i still say get good tires before you start trying to diagnose suspension problems

Ok, I will look into some tires, it has Futura GTX Super Sports on it now. Im just wondering how much the lower control arm brackets will help.

I also agree with this, however if his springs are stock they might be sagging after all these years. And as long as he has decent tread on his tires he should get "traction". But to me his definition of traction is vague. Are you getting wheel hop? if you are then LCARBS would fix that, if your just not getting traction like when you launch thats a different story.

Re: LCARB'S
traditional wheel hop is a condition where you have TOO MUCH anti squat.
if you are getting wheel hop then LCARBS would only make it worse.
if you have BRAKE HOP then LCARBS are for you.
what the heck, give it a try, they are only 70 bucks.
if you dont like it, have them removed.
or better yet, buy the bolt ins, try it out and if it helps, have them welded in, otherwise, sell them to one of us.
i could use a set, but dont want to pay for them

Re: LCARB'S
The ideal angle from what I've read is parallel with ground on a flat and level surface. Also, getting some good tires will help with traction. Not heard of those, so I'm not sure how they are. Having an adjustable torque arm also helps with traction, but that's alot of cash.

Re: LCARB'S
Well, I got wheel hop in reverse a lot but never seemed to get it going forward. Im not sure where the tires came from but i'll get something better when I need some tires. My definition of not getting traction is that im spinning a lot of the time when I am not trying to, such as when I am getting into traffic quick (but not too quick).

Re: LCARB'S
Hello,
The relocation brackets are one of the most inexpensive traction devices you can purchase and we always recommend them. We also recommend them on non-lowered cars as well. The relocatiok bracket works the same as a lift bar, it changes the control arm angle and this lifts the body and plants the tires harder into the ground. They will cure most wheel hop issues with a good set of tires.
If I can help anymore please ask. Thank you!
Ryan
