Vibration at 70

Once I get to exactly 70mph in my Camaro, the thing starts shaking real bad. The one time I went 100 my shifter was shaking so bad I could barley grab it. The car still tracks straight though. Is this just an alignment issue or do most third gens shake at higher speeds.

Re: Vibration at 70

my car is smooth at 120mph. they are not suppose to shake. vibrations means something is unbalanced. perhaps driveshaft. wheels. etc. get them checked.

Same here, I would gat the wheels balanced first, then a aluminum equilibrated drive shaft.

Re: Vibration at 70

Allignment has nothing to do with the vibration. The problem is most likely in the wheels/tires being out of balance. I don't know how so many people get these issues confused.

Re: Vibration at 70

Never discount the Transmission mount. I have a 400 with a Turbo 400. We chased a vibration that pulsed at 65 and was speed related. Changed every thing. Last week had a custom drive shaft built that required a bigger loop. Still had the vibration. Took the transmission mount out and put a stock mount in and it is as smooth as any SCCA road racing car can be. Go figure. I believe that it was just so tight that it was transmitting all vibrations into the body.

Well that's out, I already had all my caps fall off at once. That was a whole lot of vibration! I guess I will try to balance the wheels again.

For me it was the torque arm mount that was shreded to pieces, i replaced that with a poly one and it was running perfect after that
