does this help at all?

ok, first let me start off with saying that this is my daily driver, i DO NOT RACE IT, i just like to have it perform very nicely, which is why i put in KYB AGX's, wonderbar and possibly a STB this summer.

now my question is that i was looking and saw some sub frame connectors, and they boast that it is supposed to increase performance and help keep the car more rigid when accelerating. and according to some tech thread i read somewhere (although i think it was pertaining to foxbody mustangs) they mentioned that it also helped the body from sagging in certain places, such as the doors and thats why the doors are hard to close in our f-bodies sometimes. now i dont know if this is true, just hearsay really, but i am not too sure if its worth it to buy these. would they be for a non-racing daily driver?

Do it. You'll be glad you did. Most agree these cars should have had them from the factory.

Re: does this help at all?

ok...well from the hawks site, which would you reccommend, cuz there are several different designs, i was thinking between these two:

http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/82...arbmr-1-2.aspx

http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/ca...rs-bolton.aspx

one is 200, the other is 300, the first is weld in and the second is bolt on...i dunno but im kinda thinking more towards the weld in cuz my experience with bolts is that they can move around on ya lol.

and hows the ride/performance with this? like what are the major advantages of having subframe connectors?

Re: does this help at all?

You can always weld bolt on SFCs, you don't have to bolt them in. SFCs are by far the best mod and I think (along with a lot of other people) that SFCs should be the very 1st thing you do. There are many companies that make SFCs, I am a fan of the Alston Racing if you weld them in. But I like UMI as well. Do a search, there are tons of threads discussing which SFCs are "the best". But for a street car, anything will be better then nothing.

Re: does this help at all?

The weld in are generally thought to be better because of what you said and the tendency of the bolt holes to enlarge over time. The top brands seem to be Spohn, UMI, BMR, and Alston. There is a ton of debate information to read on the site to help you decide.
The SFCs essentially add rigidity to the uni-body. When the car flexes, the suspension isn't allowed to work as it should (since it's being pressed into funky angles by the flexing). It is also a preventitive measure. They'll keep the welds in the unibody from cracking as easily.

100% go for it. My buddy had his put in his mustang, took at least 90% of the squeaks and noises coming from inside the car away. His car rides a lot smoother, especially around hard cornering.

Very noticeable...and definitely agree with this being a first mod must.

I need a new floor pan then Ill have mine put in.

Re: does this help at all?

ok, at first i wasnt too sure about this but now im positive im gonna go for it...im thinkin about ordering UMI from summit (cuz hawks OWNS me with shipping every time, got a spoiler from them, 150 bucks for shipping, bought a bumper off some company in california, 50 bucks....thats 3 times LESS for twice as far lol)

but anyway i have one other question:

the exhaust, like the y-pipe, does that have enough clearance for the subframe connectors? i dont want to have to screw with my exhaust even more lol

Most subframe connectors allow for exhaust on the stock route. If your set on UMI then head over to UMIs website and ask them, or PM them on here. There very helpful guys.

Here is a link to their website http://www.umiperformance.com/2400?category_id=113

they have pics of i believe a 3 inch exhaust without dual cats. a set of UMI connectors and a set of Allstons are my next upgrade.

The best clearing perimeter type (to my knowledge) are the Spohns like what I have on mine.
