Just finished my suspension build up (UMI)

Thanks to Ryan at UMI for letting us do a group purchase that probably saved me about $120 or so maybe more. Either way, I want to comment on the results of my recent UMI SFCs, moly LCA, LCA relo brackets and moly panhard bar. I also replaced my rear sway bar bushings.

First off, Id like to say that it was a lot of work (atleast for me) doing it in my garage by myself. I started with the rear suspension items. My car is really noisy esp. bec I have the interior stripped. Its almost unbearable.

Anyways, I found that my rear sway bar bushings were trash and some bushings MISSING. I guess I never saw it so upon discovering it during the other parts install I purchased new bushings.

Today, I finished up the car by installing the SFCs. One problem, I had to bend the fender mount bracket as well as grind the fender bolt/nut to get the drv side SFC to clear (it was a biotch). I just test drove the car and the only problem now is the cat is hitting the SFC. I bought the car with aftermarket exhaust already installed so I need to find something (rubber?) to put inbtw to keep it from clanging.

What do you guys think I should use? Needs to be maybe 1/8" thick.

PS. Car is MUCH quieter now. After I fix the exhaust issue, I think its gonna be really nice. I will try to see if I can see some handling differences soon as well. Really happy with my purchase. HIGHLY recommend UMI for parts.

is the exhaust welded? can you loosen the y-pipe and wiggle things around to gain some room?

rubber will melt.

Re: Just finished my suspension build up (UMI)

I was actually thinking more along the lines of a polyethylene plastic. Wouldnt melt but could burn. I havent messed with that yet but from what I saw everything was welded with little to no wiggle room. Ill see if I can adjust the hangers..maybe slot the holes a little and pull the exhaust over a smidge.

Anyone else with ideas speak up...im sure someone else has had this problem.

Re: Just finished my suspension build up (UMI)

When I had my Alston sfcs installed years ago, my exhaust pipe hit. I took it to an exhaust shop and they took basically a crowbar to the area and bent the pipe down and away from the sfc. It wasn't much of a bend - but enough such that it didn't hit or vibrate any more. Cost: $20.
