Power Steering Pump Interchangibility?

How similar are saginaw-style power steering pumps? I see that F-bodies use part number 20862, while newer saginaw pumps are generally 20860. I want to swap to one of these because I'm going hydroboost and would like to use the factory dual-inlet can (from a 98 Chevy C/K Diesel), but I don't know if I could just put my pump in the new can, or will the new pump swap into my setup?

If anyone has any ideas, shout 'em out.

(Other than to just braze some tube onto my current reservoir and tough it out.)
