Balljoint install

Hi, I'm in trouble (again). The front end part has got to be thé most difficult work on the car, if not I'm gonna push it in the river

After hours of work, all is installed, just has to install the nut on the lower balljoint. But the threaded end of the balljoint keeps on turning along with the nut. I tried to put pressure on the both sides and/or on the LCA, but nothing works. I don't have air tools.

I'm trying to keep some american spirit alive here in Belgium so any input is higly appreciated.

Re: Balljoint install

You could try putting a jack under the A-arm, to put the weight of the car on the A-arm, that might hold the balljoint in place tight enough for you to tighten it down.

Re: Balljoint install

I already tried that, it didn't work.
Is this an indication there is too much play and do I need to replace the balljoint ?
Thanks.

Re: Balljoint install

Seems to me that the ball joint is shot. A good ball joint stud should not spin freely.

I had to use a breaker bar on the nuts for the old ones I took out.
