Spohn Tubular K-Member : Who's got one? [they are making a new one, input thoughts .]

OK I did search, nothing posted since 07 that I found.
Guess it came out in 05.

Spohn Tubular K-Member : Who's got one?

Any good?

General Reliability?

Road use Reliability?

Road n track use Reliability?

Severe track use Reliability?

Im gonna be re-doing / adding in all the fancy stiffer frame stuff and a part cage for like racing [ I just want a full solid frame, not a car held together in the middle with the floor pans.] and that would help finish off the look over a full tube front frame clip.

Who's got one?
I do.

Any good?
Of course it is. Bolted right on without any issues.

General Reliability?
Yep. Made from 1018 steel or 4130N. Spohn's welds are always top notch (Yes I know what the hell Im talking about . Im certified in 6 types of NDI)

Road use Reliability?
I drive my vert any chance that I can get to do so. So far in the 2 years that I have it, the worse thing that has happened to it was is some of the PC got chipped.

Road n track use Reliability?
I haven't had the car on a road course yet, mostly cause of the cage that I'll need to do so. Its a driver car so no cage for it. But IMO you'll see more abuse on the street than the track. They have less pot holes and man hole covers.

Severe track use Reliability?
Go for it. Prolly the only time something will happen to it is when you go off roading and hit rocks or whatever.

Re: Spohn Tubular K-Member : Who's got one?

I have one and im not to happy with it.Before i installed it i thought it was great,it looked good, welds looked great. Its the design that i don't like,it has one tube that connects both sides and that tube has been notched a lot for clearance from the tie rods. The tie rods still contact the K member at some points in the suspension travel.Had i known this i would have bought one from a different manufacturer.

Re: Spohn Tubular K-Member : Who's got one?

i have one, reliable yes, i've put on a few thousand miles on mine and its held up fairly well. but i do agree with the weakness points about the notches. the one thing that has bothered me is that my car is very low, and i've bottomed out a few times, the k member sits very low and im afraid of breaking it when it bottoms out. but on a plus side exhaust clearance is gret

Re: Spohn Tubular K-Member : Who's got one?

If the secret isn't out yet, they are gonna make a V6 one.

One of the V6 builders here is sending them his so Sphon can make a jig.

Maybe its time to bug them for minor changes to the V8, while they are at it.

Cause they should just make it uni fit, V6 n V8 are close.
Have it chevy bolt ready but id make it BOP ready; just drill.

Re: Spohn Tubular K-Member : Who's got one?

Are stock K-members different between v6 and v8 cars? Or is it just the motor mounts?
