manual steering box?

was there ever a manual steering box for our cars fom the factory?

the yahoo that changed the drivetrain on my 83 z28 before i got it

more like rescued it from the hell it was enduring, left off all the

bracketry for the power steering pump.

all he did was slip a bolt that was for the water pump so that the

pump wouldn't drag the ground.

and after some research on the engine i have determined that the

heads don't have the required bolt holes for me to bolt the power

steering pump bracket to the engine.

so if there was a manual box i could get myself out this without a lot

of trouble, like changing the head or some high dollar aftermarket

serpentine system.

Re: manual steering box?

No manual steering box for third gens from the factory.
A manual steering box from a 1st gen. S-series truck is almost a direct bolt-in. The only thing you need to do for it to fit is to grind the rear of the DS swaybar mount a little bit.
They can be found in 4 cylinder trucks. Make sure you get one with a 4-bolt top cover.
