Polygraphite bushings - impovement or asking for problems?

I have a PST polygraphite suspension kit that I bought a while ago but never installed. I figured maybe I'd install it before the winter, and mentioned this to one of my friends at work, who really knows his stuff when it comes to suspension and alignment. He told me the best thing I could do would be to pack up the kit and send it back. He says every set of polygraphite bushings he's ever seen installed squeeked and cracked and ended up having to be replaced. If I have to rebuild my front end, he told me to buy Moog parts, not polygraphite.

I tried checking the archives but I think they're still down, and I remember reading many posts about noisy bushings in the past, but I never paid much attention. So, if you have polygraphite bushings, please tell me what you think, or what you'd do if you had to do it over again. Thanks.

Don't know if this will help you Jed, but I have a full and complete front end rebuild kit from PSC for my 68 Dodge Coronet. It came with moog steering parts, and Energy Suspension polygraphite bushings. Every single bushing is polygraphite. Been in there 3 years, and has no squeeks and has not cracked or failed in any way. YMMV......

I have the PST bushings and have no problems. If i drive though some big puddles, the next day or two i get a few creaks, but then its quiet again after that.

I like my polygraphite bushings I got from PST. I also rebuilt my front suspension with moog steering parts (also very good) and it handles great and I don't hear squeaks from my front end or the rear suspension.

Guys, thanks for the replies. What about ride quality differences between stock and polygraphite bushings? Will I feel more vibration with polys?

Yes you will feel more vibration. Yes you wull have more road feel and know exactly what your tires are doing allowing for more spirited driving with the assurance of knowing how far you can push your car. Yes this should only be done as part of a complete suspension rebuild. No, it won't ride like a Cadillac or Lincoln Town Car. What are you trying to achieve? Good luck, Lon.
