I used to have the GR2 struts and the gas-a-just shocks. IMHO, the fronts are a bit too soft, but are a good replacement shock and cheaply priced.

I just put on the KYB a couple of days ago. I'm restoring my 1986 Transam and it's been sitting for three years. I've only driven about 30 miles on them, but they feel good and the ride is pretty smooth. I feel that they were worth getting. I was thinking about Tokicos, but I couldn't afford them. The KYB are great gas replacements.

Just go to http://www.ground-control.com/gccamcat.htm and see what they say about KYB Shocks.
Next to the tires the shocks are the shocks are the most important component in making your car handle. The KYBs may keep the tires on the pavement, and if that is all you need then O.K. but if you are looking for more then you will have to spend a little more. Believe me, if you want your car to handle you cannot go cheap on the shocks. Money spent here is money well spent. My personal preferance for off the shelf shocks is KONI. -Specials (red) if you dont race, -Sports (yellow) if you do or if you really want the car to perform.

Those atatements were kinda vague on the KYB's since there are two different types of KYB, but I get the jist. The Tokico HP's look pretty good. I drag race on the weekends, and drive the car everyday, so $200 shocks/struts aren't viable. I DON't Road Race at all.

To help clear things up on the KYB non adjustable stuff.
The front struts are only availible in the low pressure GR2 design. The rear shocks are available in the low press GR2 as well as the high press gas-a-just, which costs like $10 more. I believe that KYB recommends the gas-a-just rear shocks to be used in 3rd gens. Its a good replacement shock, i just would not consider it a hi-po piece like Konis or Bilsteins.
