Would an alum. panhard bar hold up to DD and auto X?

most of the ones you can buy off the shelf flex too much because they are rather small in diameter. You could use a larger, 1.25+ diameter bar, but at that point its starting to weigh more than a steel/chromoly one.

i would pass on aluminum for that

Yep, Chromemoly arms are stronger and lighter.
