I always use the Bendix semi-metallics... I used a no-name brand once and nearly killed myself.

Personally I like the Performance Friction Z-rated pads. The only bad part is that they like to be warmed up, a few sudden 'stabs' on th pedal at about 40 or so should do nicely. Once they get 'hot' hold on 'cause they really start grabbing HARD! If you get them go out and test them by stopping REALLY fast 2, maybe 3 times. After that you will have to work on your threashold braking because they will lock up quickly. You will know what I am talking about, but when they are cold they do leave a little to be desired. In a panic stop when cold they will warm up quickly so when you start to stop you will feel them grabbing harder.

14.73 @ 95... traction still a problem

TomP is right about the no name ****. I got some of that crap on my car right now and can't wait to get rid of them. They were about $10 and ever since I put them on last May I've had constant brake dust. Plus after only 7k miles it feels like i need new ones already.
