car is all over the road!!!!
My '85 Camaro needs some serious help, I am having an awful time keeping it on the road. It wanders to the left and to the right. I am not interested(don't have the money for) in upgrading to performance suspension parts, I just want to get it tracking down the road straight, and not fight the steering wheel all the way down the road! I have looked at it, and everything looks solid, but I know nothing about suspensions. Help!

When's the last time you had tie-rods, ball joints, struts, etc. replaced on it? Sounds like you need to replace your steering components and have it aligned. Ever changed any of this stuff yourself before? You can save yourself a bunch of cash if you can do it. Without knowing much about the history of your car and maintenance, it's kinda hard to hit the nail on the head, but this is just my opinion...

I agree with thunderstick... some linkage parts must be worn out. The idler arm is a common "wear item" on f-bodies- that means it needs to be replaced over time. As to the other pieces, lack of lubrication, hitting curbs, and years of use will wear them out (or even bend 'em). An alignment shop can tell you the scoop, especially when they can't get the car to align.
My tire shop was able to pinpoint a bent spindle (steering knuckle) with their machine! (That's the part your front wheel spins on.) That still amazes me that they could determine that was the bad part. I replaced it myself with one from my parts car, and all I had to buy was a $14 pickle fork balljoint-separator.
