can't diconnect strut from steering knuckle. HELP!

i tried to change my front struts and i can't get out the bolt that holds the strut to the steering knuckle. i got the nuts (i said nuts) off of the bolts, i just can't get the bolts out. i tried an impact gun, an air chisle, a sledge hammer, and even broke a 1/2in breaker bar. any suggestions?

i put the nuts back on enough to protect the threads and used a BFH. still messed up a nut (i said nut too) or two. after i got the bolt started i used a drift punch to drive it the rest of the way out.

Same thing! I still ended up with distorted threads and it took a lot of torque to get the nuts back on one side. Ideally, you should have new nuts and bolts.

I don't know why it was so hard for you guys. I did mine recently and was able to get the bolts out just by tapping them with a hammer. Try shaking around the spindle and maybe that will break loose the strut and the bolts. You've probably already done that so I guess I don't have any real help for you. Sorry

use the all mighty FLAME WRENCH!!!!!!!!!!!
heat it up and it should twist right out.....
or 'shock' it; heat it up and pour water on it to expand and contract the metal quickly..

also i'm a BIG fan or PB Blaster.....best penetrating oil out there......
