Finding braided steel brake lines?

I have ordered a set of steel braided flexable brake lines from summit way back in July. Russell makes them. Well they are still on back order. They moved the expected date back again for the 100th time! I called Jegs and they said they have had them backordered since March. So it doesn't look like I'll be seeing them any time soon! Russell says they are waiting for the right fitting to come in.. like that should take 9 months! Anyways I've about had it with them. Does anyone know where I can't find a similar set for my 85 firebird? Hopefully not costing too much more than the russell ones. Thanks

Earl's has a website too that shows them; I can't remember if they're DOT-legal (street-safe) though. I forget the website, too. Search for it through http://www.yahoo.com ...

[edit] Oh hey I forgot to mention- I saw the Russel ones a month or so ago in my local Pep Boys! Go figure. Hey if they're that rare maybe I should go run and buy them, eh?

Stick with the Aeroquip or Earls, they are top quality...the Russells are 2nd rate

If you buy them from there, let me know how it goes. You can buy them direct from Earl's too: http://www.ozemail.com.au/~earls/ . I think I'm going to get some too.

I ordered some this morning--some problems, though with choosing the right p/ns. I finally had to call Earl's. I was told that pn 361-28A190 (85 to 92) was for the 1LE. Pn361-28A520 (85-88) fit my 85 IROC.

Scott, the first web address you gave me, I called them and they said they no longer have the brake line kit for an 85 firebird. They told me Earl's stopped making them for now at least. I don't know about that. As for the other web address you sent, the number for that one is in Austraillia. Just a little to long distance for me. Thanks for the help though.

If anyone would like to know. I found Earl's brake lines from jegs. Part# 361-28A180 for front disc's and # 361-28A190 for 4 wheel disc's. I got the 4 wheel disc and Jeg's says they are low in stock. I'm not sure about the ft. wheel disc. Get them while you can. Russel's brake lines delivery date was put back again... 12/31/00 and keeps getting put back every day. So I finally cancelled them.
