master cyl run dry.....

i have let my rear resevoir run dry , changing my rear out again, and need to know what the disadvantages of leaving the brake line open are??? I know the dirt and moisture but is there any permanent harm to the braking system. I would rather not have to keep bleeding these things since the car is gonna sit till the rear gets rebuilt.

you should be able to find something at a parts store that would let you screw on the flare nuts so you can close the system. do a gravity bleed and cap it. allowing any thing in the system is bad. if you leave it open for a long time the more chances you have for problems. that said i've left lines open for months with nothing bad happening.

a nut and bolt with washers would work, right?,I left mine open for a while once,no damage, but better to be safe than.....totally screwed when your rear brakes give out.
