Can you help a brother with his, toyota??
I have a 94 toyota tercel, I changed shocks and struts a last spring. At any rate, I broke a rear shock last summer, the main shaft that went through the upper bracket (hole in the car where it bolts on the top) had the tack weld break off. It has done it two times since then, one relatively small bumps. I had to drive it home when it happened the first time, I wonder if I could have fatigued the rear spring on that side thus now allowing the strut to over travel and popping the "catch" off the main shaft of the shock. Now the shaft is perfectly smooth (since the piece broke off) and the shock travels up through the upper bracket, which is obviously should not do and effectively makes it non-functional.

Don't worry guys, I figured it out . . . the wing I put on it was so heavy that it caused the problem. I switched to a smaller wing on the trunk, only three foot tall - and no more problems . . .
