Anybody using dropped spindles?

After recently replacing my struts, I took my car in to have the front end aligned. The guy doing the work was a circle track racer and seemed to know his stuff about chassis and suspension. I asked him about lowering my car. He recommended that I stay away from using springs to lower the car since it can cause problems with the front end binding up. He said it throws the front end geometry all out of whack. I have seen the Beltech 2" dropped spindles and rear lowering springs for the Camaro's, but would like to hear from someone who has used them. Thanks.

Yes this guy is correct. I dont have the drop spindles yet. I am going to get them with the Baer brake kit all at once. Drop spindles keep the front geometry the same. When you just use springs the geometry changes and you have to get an alignment to correct for it. The main reason people go for the springs is that it is cheaper. Generally all 4 springs cost as much as a set of spindles.

My baer spindles rubbed the hell out of my wheel wells when i had my car sitting anything higher then 2.5 inches off the ground. I had to knock them out some to prevent from having to change my tires every 100 miles. Am I the only one who has experianced that? If so it is becuase the wieghtjacks and relocated control arm to fit the eibach racing springs that where on the car when i purchased it.

Well if you had belltech drop spindles and aftermarket springs then I can see why you would be rubbing. That is like 4" of drop. I think if you put the factory springs in the front it will help with the problem. Unles you dont have the belltech drop spindles. Baer sells modified stock ones and belltechs.

I BOUGHT AND INSTALLED THE BELL TECH PACKAGE (SPINDLES AND REAR SPRINGS) AND DON'T HAVE A PROBLEMS AT ALL. I REUSED MY STOCK FRONT SPRINGS AND THE TOTAL LOWERING WAS ABOUT 2" IN FRONT AND 2" IN THE REAR. ENJOY!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Looks like I will keep my stock front springs and go with the Bell Tech 2" dropped spindles and rear lowering springs.

I bought dropped spindles for my Elcamino, and they are alot better than just lowering with springs. Not only is the geometry still the same, but you also still have full suspension travel, well, as far as your tires will let you go. I want to get them for my T/A, but, I want to upgrade the front brakes to bigger ones. What kind of upgrades can you do with the dropped spindles?

I used the Bell Spindles, and the Art Morrison Coil Over Conversion Kit. Redrilled the upper mounts to get the caster right, made for a nice setup. The coilovers allowed an adjustable ride height. Was able to dial in the height so that the inner pivor was an inch higher then the ball joint, so the camber curve was about right, then the big front bar.

Im using BellTech 2" droped spindles with Jamex 1.5" lowering springs.I had to modify the hell out of the front fenderwells.Removed alot of metal.
The front tires now sit up in the fender. It is ultra low!!
If you drive your car alot,I would not reccomend my setup.
