How about some relocation brackets? Saves you from crawling under the car to weld them in.

Crucial, for a repaint, can I suggest using POR-15? I used their Super Starter Kit (semi-gloss black) for $20, and was able to cover my whole axle with it. It locks down rust, and all the car magazines & resto guys (and myself) love it.
I'd also suggest replacing the rear bearings & seals. I and RB83L69 typed up info on how to do that here: https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/000932.html
I also put a new cover on instead of painting up the old rusted one. I was able to separate the "original" magnet from the inside of the original cover with some careful prying using a screwdriver. I then used JB-Weld to glue the new magnet to the inside of the new cover.
Good luck!
[edit] Oh, make sure to re-check the torque of all the axle-to-car bolts a day or so after driving! I forgot to do that, and lost an important bolt !
