P/S Bypass........

hi guys. I finally got my 454 in and running. My ques. is, I still need to hook up my power steering until I can find an S10 manual gearbox. I started to wonder if I could just pull the pump out and put a fitting in the pressure line of the steering box and just plug the return line. I took it for a quick boot today and it actually isn't that stiff. I know the gear ratio doesn;t have as much assist as a manual box, but I can live with it. I know it's doable, but I just want to know if this would cause any major damage to the box.

Thanks alot.

Leave some fluid in the box. Leave the lines in the box vented. A coupla hoses hooked to a small breather might do the trick and look OK too.
