Energy vs. PST
Earlier I posted about the difference about these two bushing sets:
from what I gather the hyperflex complete Master bushing complete master bushing set kit comes with:
Front and rear control arm bushings, front end link set, transmission mount, rear panhard rod bushings, tie rod end boots.
And the PST comes with:
2 Lower Ball Joints
2 Outer Tie Rod Ends
4 POLYGRAPHITEŽ Upper Inner Control Arm Bushings
2 or 4 POLYGRAPHITEŽ Lower Inner Control Arm Bushings
2 POLYGRAPHITEŽ Strut Rod Bushings (if required)
2 POLYGRAPHITEŽ Stabilizer Links
2 POLYGRAPHITEŽ Sway Bar Bushings
Control Arm Bumpers (for most models)
for $159 US from them direct. Seems like the PST is a better deal. But I am trying to find out which set is better...seems like the PST comes with more stuff.
I saw somewhere else that somebody said (can't remember who) that PST were made cheaper..Is this true? Does anybody know what the actual difference is? Is PST a lesser quality, stiffer (harsher ride), etc.

I didn't know that our cars had upper control arms, or lower ball joints. Doesn't the strut eliminate these?
The energy suspension kit includes the front and rear bushings, where the PST has bushings for only the front.
As for stiffer, the bushings on my Elcamino are Graphite, and that car handle better than anything I have ever ridden in, (compartitavely, I have driven Ferraris, and Lamborghinis, and Porches) But like I said before, the poly graphite squeaks alot. I mean, ALOT!! But from what I have read, the graphite, are just graphite impregnated urathane. Graphite is known for it's lubricating properties.

I was just going what the ad had said. This was the only thing out of the ad that I forgot to add "McPherson strut suspension cars DO NOT use upper ball joints or bushings." I am debating which one to order in the near future (money permitting of course). I know that a lot of people have used one or the maybe both. And I was hoping to get some of their insight.

Stinger, the polygraphite stuff squeaks? I thought only the polyurethane squeaked. I thought the graphite kept the stuff quiet- or is that just marketing hype?

I don't really know which is better - the poly or the graphite... I've got a complete set of E/S's poly bushings on my '91. I put 'em on last spring, and I noticed that when it was really hot outside, that is when they squeeked. Thru the fall and winter, I have had no noise from them at all. Right after I installed all those bushings I heard about the graphite ones, and that they didn't squeek, but what was done was done - I wasn't going to swap them all out again. I guess I'll find out when it really warms up if they're gonna squeek or not, but maybe they won't since they'll be well broken in. I can say that there's a very noticeable difference in the handling, and I did have to purchase additional pieces to really do a complete installation...

Ploygraphite does squeak just a little bit.
Last March I rebuilt my front end using the PST front end kit..
Lets just say I am impressed!!!
The car handles so much better, the ride is better and it is more fun to drive the car now.
Just one little tip for ya. When ya rebuild the front end with either the polyurthane or polygraphite make sure any of the surfaces that it comes in contact with clean it really good and use a liberal amount of Marine Grease..
The more grease ya use the better!

That might be my problem. I don't remember what type of lube that I used, but I have heard that there are many out there that stop the squeaking. I hated the fact that when I'd pull up a driveway, it would sound like my suspension was older than the car. And it was almost all brand new. I'll try some of that marine grease when I get it swaped to a V8, and smogged.
