Swap in a 3rd gen rear or a 4th gen rear? Your thoughts.
Just got a new car. Its basically the thirdgen I've always wanted (we'll almost the one I've always wanted would be an '89 TTA, but thats another story) except for the fact that it has drum rear brakes. I understand that the only way to get discs in the rear is to swap the rearend. So would it be better to locate a 3rd or 4th gen rear. What are the pros/cons of each. Please note that this car is going to be my daily driver and will never see track time, or DRs so a 9" or a 12 bolt are not something that I'm considering. Also I plan on eventually getting a new set of rims in the future so I'm prepared to make changes on that front as well. And finnally what all do I need from the donor car? Thanks for your time.
a 4thgen rear is about 2" wider on each side. I'm thinking of getting one. It should be a lot easier to find than a 3rdgen rear with disks.
