Airbag questions
What is involved in installing an airbag to preload the pass rear tire? How much do the parts cost? Can you drive on the street with it inflated or do you only inflate it when you're at the strip? I mainly do autocross, so would it help me power around corners or just hurt me? I have an open diff with 2.73 gears. I can't afford to replace it with a posi unit and steeper gears right now.

An air bag kit (2 bags) is $63 from Summit. They fit inside the rear springs. Have the rear of the car on jackstands on the frame. Disconnect the bottom of the shocks and drop the diff down far enough that the springs will come out. Install the air bags as per the instructions and route the lines to a convienient location. As long as you check the air pressure regularly like you're supposed to do on tires, you can drive around with them on the street. If pressure drops to zero then you risk rubbing a hole in them because they won't stay in place.
You can install both bags or just one on the passenger side and sell the other. It's trial and error to determine the best pressure to run but set up properly an open diff can hook up just like a posi.
I run both bags in my race car. I keep 5 psi in the drivers side and 15 in the passengers.
A good place to run the air line(s) to is behind the gas cap door. That way every time you fill up, you can check the air pressure at the same time.

383 stroker (carbed) with double hump cast iron heads and pump gas
461 Big Block installed and ready for the 2001 racing season
Best results before the 383 blew up
Best ET on a time slip: 11.857 altitude corrected to 11.163
Best MPH on a time slip: 117.87 altitude corrected to 126.10
Altitude corrected rear wheel HP based on power to weight ratio: 476.5
Best 60 foot: 1.662
Racing at 3500 feet elevation but most race days it's over 5000 feet density altitude!

Thanks for the info. Sounds easier than I thought it would be, and it's cheap too! Are you talking about the Air Lift kit in summit?

Yes. I can't remember the part number. There are different kits. Just order it for a third gen.
