Steering wheel not straight...
My friend has an 88 RS that, when the wheels are straight going down the road, the steering wheel is not straight, it is like 45 degrees off to the right. He wants it straight again and I don't know exactly how to tell him to fix it. Could it be as simple as mounting it rotated a little to correct this, (maybe drilling a hole or two to mount it straight) or maybe suggest a aftermarket wheel and mount it straight? I am not too familiar with steering columns and maybe it is not that the wheel is on wrong and the problem is farther down like the steering box and you can't just rotate the wheel and mount it different?
He doesn't live that close to me, and my car is in storage, but I don't really feel like tearing mine apart anyway, so I was hoping someone here could help us out. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

It is a simple enough task to pull off the steering wheel and re-mount it centered. But it doesn't get off as much as you describe on it's own. Has the car been in an accident or had some front suspension component replaced? Either way, the front alignment should be checked. They can re-center the wheel then as well.
