86 IROC sway bars, what size?
ok i have a set of sway bars. i was going to put them on a project i had. but i had to get rid of it.
ok here is my question. i got the sway bars from an old parts car i had. It was a 1986 IROC-Z, hardtop, 305TPI, and it had the 145mph speedo, i dont know what gears it had in the rear end was out when i got the car. i know what sway bars were offered. but which ones on 86s only. this was not a 1LE car so please give me some feed back. thanks.
Listed from stiffest to softest, front bars came in the following flavors: 34mm solid bar, 36mm hollow, 34mm hollow, 32mm solid, 30mm solid and 28mm solid. Rear bars, all solid, start with the ultra-rare 25mm bar found only on a few Pontiac Firebirds. Moving from the stiffest to the softest, rear bars were also available in flavors of 24mm, 23mm, 21mm, 18mm and 12mm

My '86 IROC came with a 34mm front swaybar and 24mm rear. I believe the rear is solid but don't know if the front is (anybody do know?)I do know it's pretty damn heavy!
You sure that IROC was a hardtop and not a t-top? I never heard of a hardtop IROC.

I'm not sure I can help much, but I know that 36 mm bars were offered in Camaros from 89 to 92 (and 86-92 in Firebirds). My 85 IROC (hardtop by the way) had 32 mm solid.

hey dhirocz, they offered the iroc in hardtop. you must not pay much attention. no offense. but here is a pic of mine if you dont believe me.
and the hardtops were the strongest thirdgen for rigidity. and from 89-92 the 350s only came in hardtop if they had the G92 option.
