I have a friend going to a junkyard tomorrow morning, and i need an answer. Could i get the 1LE brakes off of another car. I think i read somewhere that they took the 12 inch rotor and spindles from the cavelier.. is that right. The question is basically, is there another car in a junkyard that i could take the brakes and rotors from, and i so what is it, and what years?

1991 Z28 305 5spd 1LE, TES headers, dual cats, 3 Chamber flowmaster, Comp cams .488/.495 212/218 the usual street racer with a stock chip.
Gained 20HP by porting and polishing my EGR passage.

 

Ben, If you will look down this board you will see that much effort has been put into "this 1LE" brake question. As far as finding one in a junk yard. I would say that you have a better chance of riding on the space shuttle. I made my own 1LE spindles. Jay,and I will be posting many picsures of my 1LE front brake upgrade soon. I am installing them on my '82Z28.

also recently obtained a
'69 chevelle SS396 w/Turbo 400,3.31 posi,11.0 to 1, headers,etc. Latest project car,'86 IROC stock 305TPI hit on left side,but not too bad

 

The 1LE brakes came from Corvettes, and were available on 88-92 1LE Camaros and Firebirds, and also on late 91 and 92 B4C Camaro cop cars. The chances of finding one of these in a junkyard are zero and none. See the tech article on here, it lists everyone you need to convert your brakes.
