My struts are quite weak and they need to be replaced. I'm kind of strapped for cash, so I'm wondering how important it is to replace them soon? Also, I'm not sure if this is related to the struts, but it seems my steering is kind of loose and inconsistent. I am having to correct my steering a lot while driving and sometimes the front end will start to track off to the right and I will need to quickly pull to the left. Any info on these problems would be great.

Your wander problem is probably the center link. It's about $65 IIRC. Steering gear adjustment would probably help too.
