Where can I find a Billet Steering Shaft

I have a 92 RS and I need to know what the difference is between a Steering Shaft and a Rack and Pinion. I have recently gutted and painted my engine compartment and I can't see putting that unsightly steering shaft back in. Even if I painted it , I think it would look ugly. I'm looking for a billet or chrome one. I've seen plenty of billet rack and pinion units out there, but I dont know if it is the same thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

a rack and pinion is a totally different type of steering. it doesn't use all the linkages we have or a steering box.

check out AGR steering shafts

Thanks 89prochargedroc, I checked out their web site and e-mailed them with my request. Also, thanks for clearing up that rack and pinion thing for me.:0 Have you tried any of their stuff? I am also looking at a new steering box. Nothing's really wrong with the one I have, but I'm thinking about doing a little autocrossing when my car is done and figured it wouldn't hurt to get a beefier one.

nope...never did. sorry. i'm more of a drag racer than auto crosser so my mod would be a manual box not a new power one.

Here's an idea... what about buying one of those lengths of silver aluminized "heat stove" tubing from an auto parts store? You know, the ones the carb guys use to connect the exhaust manifold to the heat stove on the air cleaner. You could cover the shaft with the tubing; and it'd be large and stiff enough so the tubing doesn't interfere with the shaft at all.
