Eibach/Hotchkis/Other Spring Choices

Hey guys -

I was just wondering what you alls opinion is on spring choice. I'm trying to set the car up for road racing and AutoXing, and was looking over my spring choices.

Ok, so there's the Eibach Pro Kit which I see a lot of you have picked. There's also the Sportline springs, that lower it a little bit more. I don't mind going lower, but is the handling really any better? I don't like the fact that they're progressive rate, I'd rather have a constant rate spring. Any ideas there?

And there's also the Hotchkis, which one of my friends has, and swears by them...

Also, any other springs out there you guys would suggest??

Thanks

I have Eibach Sportlines and I have no complaints. I'm not an autocrosser so I'm not sure exactly what to tell you. After I switched to aluminum heads the front of my car gained some ride height and I was looking to drop it down - the sportlines did the trick.

How much did it lower it by? I don't really want to go lower than 2", but the ad says 1.5 to 2 3/4". Thanks

The Sportlines dropped mine 2" up front and 1.5" in the rear. With regular shocks and struts the ride is comparable to the stock WS6. Be careful concerning ground clearance though.

Hey Mongoose -

I also noticed that you have the SSM subframe connectors. I was thinking about running those, how do you like them? I'm also thinking about some sort of cross brace connecting the right and left side subframe connectors, I've seen it on a couple cars...

I really like that setup that you've got, though. I've got Tokicos on my race car, and have been very impressed with them. Also, I see that you're from Monroe, NC. Do you do any AutoXing around in the area? I'm from Durham...

Well, I've tried the Hotchkis springs, and now I have Global West springs. So, I went from variable to non-variable. Bottom line, the GW springs are much easier to go fast with. You go over a bumb everyday, and the variable springs will react differently every time. You just can't have as much confidence in them.
