Odd front end problem

I have a 85 Camaro, Spt Cpe model. While driving around 30-40 mph the steering wheel is moving like I am turning it left to right and right to left. I got under the car while someone turned the wheel and it looks like the sway bar is staying put and the frame is moving. I am going to bring it to a chasis shop very soon. Anyone ever experience this?
Thanks

It sounds like you have a crack in your frame where the steering box bolts on, a few other people have had this problem. If that's what it is you need to get the frame welded where the crack is. A good way to prevent this problem from happening again is to install a wonderbar from an IROC. It bolts on where the sway bar bolts to the frame and tightens that area to prevent flexing.

I had the same problem in my Camaro that I used to have.the crack was in the frame by the steering box.The odd thing was that my steering was fine and tight,I only found out when I went in for a wheel alingment.

Thanks for the tips. I think I will be bringing it to the chasis shop this Monday, it feels to be getting worse. Is the wonderbar a stock item on the IROC? Depending on the price of the repair I am considering 16" IROC wheels. I may have them install an IROC steering box while they are in there. I have been told it has a different steering ratio for the wider tires. Robbie
