Car is creaking

I am new to this car. Its a 1991 RS T-Tops. Whenever I hit a bump in the road, the car is creaking. Is there anything to do about this? I am guessing that its a common issue, but I dont know. Thanks for the help all.

SFC's (sub frame connectors) will help. They are not a 100% cureall but you will notice improvement in body stiffness.

Re: Car is creaking

It sounds like its coming from the door area, and or by the front suspension. Any other ideas?

Probably needs a suspension rebuild - let's face it, it's almost 20 years old. Start with tie rod ends and ball joints. Replace idler arm and maybe center link. Check the A-arm bushings and replace if cracked and brittle. Replace sway bar bushings and end links. And definitely get the "wonderbar" from a JY IROC or order from TDS (www.top-downsolutions.com). That will chew up $500 real quick, but can all be done in the driveway in a weekend. Then you'll need to look at new springs and shocks/struts. Oh, and if the A-Arm bushings look like they need replaced, save that part of the job until you get springs and struts/shocks - no sense taking A-arms down twice.

SFC's are nice, and a great chassis asset to these unibody cars - but won't do you much good if they are installed on a bad suspension - you'll just be putting them in while the car is off keel, and when the suspension is done it will end up remaining off keel since they have to be installed when the car is on the wheels.
