coil spring isolator

Is there something in the aftermarket that's designed to replace the front coil spring isolator? Mine are a little on the distorted side and could use replacing seeing as the front end is dissasembled.
GM has the item listed as discountinued (not surprisingly).

Re: coil spring isolator

Spohn used to have them. they are just thin rubber pads. Heater hose would accomplish the same thing.

here they are

again, heater hose works, and its a lot cheaper. All they do is keep the springs from making noise with metal to metal contact

New or used, to save yourself time, energy and sanity, tape the isolator in place before attempting to replace the spring.

Re: coil spring isolator

just ordered two from rockauto....$6 each. I'm not being a wise#$! but I believe they're called insulators. Theres no shame in replacing anything with new stuff....especially when you have it apart and don't plan on having it apart for a long time. I'd replace a hose clamp if it started lookin old.

Re: coil spring isolator

I've been throught the tape thing before. Excellent advice.

As far isolator/insulator. I just referenced my GM manual. I stand corrected. It is insulator. (Thanks for the info)

Re: coil spring isolator

Interestingly enough, when looking for an "insulator" in the aftermarket, I find them listed as "isolators".

Re: coil spring isolator

tomato/tamato I guess........that's probably why the guys at pepboys and autozone had no clue what I was looking for.....they were cheaper at rockauto anyway
