installing panhard bar question
hey guys.
does any thing need to be supported while installing a new panhard bar?
with the car on stands.
does the axle move or need a jack under it?

Re: installing panhard bar question
Shocks and sway bar end links will hold the axle up enough I believe - might have to get a jack under the differential just to make life easier, but the axle will not fall to the ground or anything.

Re: installing panhard bar question
you should be fine, only thing that may happen is the axle will shift side to side a little and you will have to push/pull it back over to get it recentered

Well, I'm sure you've replaced yours by now, but for anybody else reading:
I just finished replacing mine about an hour ago, and now I wish I had taken pictures to put up here for everyone.
First, chuck the front wheels, and jack up the rear end and put stands under it infront of the rear tires. After its jacked up, take off the tires to make life easier, then find the two bolts you need to take off (one on each side).
After finding those bolts, go ahead and liberally apply WD-40, Liquid Wrench, or your choice in lubricant, and let it sit for a while, come back and do it again, and repeat.
After a few coats of lubricant, try your luck at taking the nuts off. (18mm and 21mm)
Mine wouldn't come off, so I spent about a half hour grinding off the heads of the bolts and hitting them out with a hammer and improvised nail punch, and for that I recommend spending the $10 for new mounting bolts.
After the bolts are out, the panhard bar is probably in there pretty tight, in which case a wonderbar will really come in handy; put it in, and pry out the old panhard bar.
Installing the new bar really shouldn't be tough at all, the only extra thing you'll need (or at least I suggest) is a rubber mallet to help "put it" into place.
