stupid brakes
I changed my rear disc brakes the other day. When i put the caliper back on the rear passenger side rotor the pads wouldn't keep contact with the rotor. They only contacted the rotor firmly with the brake pressed. The pads wouldn't rest against the rotor like the other three calipers were. Anyone else have this problem and is there any way to fix it. is there something wrong with the caliper. btw, i bled the brakes. Thanks
The parking brake mechanism takes up this slack as you actuate it...it ratchets the piston closer to the rotor.
Work the parking brake a few times and verify the mechanism is working correctly. I generally disconnect the brake cable and spring so I can manually actuate the brake lever and ratchet the piston into place correctly.

...unless, your piston's internal return spring has frozen. That's just what the recall covers. I rebuilt my rear brakes, and I have one caliper that does that- and no matter how many times I ratchet the parking brake lever (on the caliper, not the one in the car), the piston won't move out. Info was just covered here: https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/001942.html
