Making E-Brake work

I have a 91 Z28 with the G92, so i have disc brakes. Sometimes my e-brake doesnt work or when you pull it there is no tension. Is there a way to fix this. I heard you can adjust this but have only heard how to do it for drum brake cars. Thanks

My 92 was doing the same thing. When I was swapping in the T-56, I noticed that the area on the e-brake lever, where the cable attaches was covered with grease and junk was stuck in it. When you pulled up the brake, the cable would slide on the lever, instead of pulling the rear brakes. I cleaned it all off with brake cleaner, put a spot grease on it and all is well again.

Check the slack in the system. Raise the car and take out the driveshaft. At the tol of the tunnel, you will see the left and right brake cables attching to a single cable. That single cable as a screw on it. Tighten the cable and you should be all set. Make sure the cables are where they are supposed to be (there are a couple of hooks where the cable lays into) That should cure your lack of an e-brake problem.

No the bracket does not have a screw in it. I believe the design was changed in '90. Trust me though, in my '91 there is no adjusting screw. The parking brake is said to be "self-adjusting". I had the same problem as Mark. The cable slid off of the track at the arm. I had to take the console out to fix it but it works pefect now.

Thanks guys, now i just have to find someone that will let me use a lift! How hard is it to drop the drive shaft? If only my dad made the back garage 2 feet taller i would have a lift.

the lever is that inside the car or on the bottom of the out side?

Disc E-brakes suck. I can yank up on my e-brake while I'm stopped and in gear, and it'll roll right through. I have brand new calipers and pads in the back.
