4th gen front suspension to 3rd gen???
4th gen front suspension to 3rd gen???
Ok, i have an 89 camaro, that i just got an awesome deal for wheels off a 1999 Firebird Formula, they're really nice. Heres my problem, the wheels will fit in the back just fine, but the front there is too much backspacing for the 3rd gen front suspension. The wheels are 16"x8" with 6 3/4" backspacing. What i want to know is, will the front suspension off a 4th gen car bolt into a 3rd generation car with little or no modification? any help u can give would be helpful. Email me at ray_ss396@hotmail.com Thanks
you can put in the rear suspension but the front is totaly different. You will need spacers in front to make them fit.

A 4th gen has a double A arm front suspension with a shock and coil spring. Completely different from the lower A arm coil spring and strut found on the 3rd gen cars. What you are talking about doing would be a major undertaking with a great amount of cutting and welding required. This would be the work for a very good chasis shop or someone with a good welder and excellent fabricating abilities. I do not exactly understand your problem if the wheels are sticking out to far you are screwed and are going to have to live with it. If they are too far in just run a wheel spacer.

Thanks everyone for your help. Last night after i posted my question i found bolt on spacers on the internet. I took the dimensions down to a friend of mine that owns a machine shop to have some made.
