9 bolt conversion..HELP

Ok I have an 88 IROC with a 10 bolt posi with drums. I have a 9 bolt posi with discs and 3.45 gears in it that I am going to be changing into it. No help me with the installation. Should it just bolt right in and brakes hook up an everything? Will I need another master cylinder cause I have gone from 88 drums to a disc setup? Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

It will bolt directly in & you'll supposedly need a proportioning valve from a disc brake car.

Does it have aluminum calipers? if so the drum brake cars and these use the same masters, the 88 and older rear disc used a diffrent master. I ran the 88 disc set up on my drum brakes master and it worked fine though. I did teh same swap and it went right in. You will need a diffrent p vavle though.

I would buy it, since it is a 88 you probably will have the same problem as this guy with the calipers, The gear ratios for that rear are 2.77, 3.27,3.45 which is what I have, and there is a 3.70,

I would bet it is a 3.27 ratio. That is what I have (lucky, so I didn't need to change the tranny gear from the 3.23). I got the e-brake cables along with mine, which helped a bit not having to deal with those. I got new PowerStop cross drilled rotors, re-built the calipers ($5 kit), and changed the fluid while it was out.

While I have an adjustible proportioning valve... it isnot under the hood, but still in the back seat of my car. I think my front brakes are working more then they should be, but the car stops fine. I hope to get it in sometime this summer.

Matt, should be a good swap if you like the brake line thing. I just did that swap with a 3.27 9-bolt but instead of spending about $500 in brake parts (i needed calipers, cables, hoses) along with the p-valve and master, i put the drums on the 9-bolt. Cost me $0 and my car does'nt know the difference. A little welding involved, but it was pretty simple.
