Rear End Rumbling

For the longest time I knew I needed new panhard bar bushings, and rather than just buying new bushings and bolts (I knew there was no way I could reuse the old ones) for $45, I just bought a UMI Tubular non-adjustable panhard bar and bolts for around $80.

I finally got it put on today after spending about three hours trying to cut those bolts off.

I had hoped that the new panhard bar (The entire rear end of the car would slide about a half inch back and fourth because of how terrible the bushings were) would help with the problem I'm having, but it really didn't.

The problem:
When taking a turn really fast, or basic-- well, really anything that makes the rear tires lose traction, also makes the entire rear end of the car jump up and down rapidly.

It's a 90 RS 305. I'm not sure about anything with the transmission, and the only non-stock hardware on it is the panhard bar I just put on.

Ideas?

Have you checked your traction control arms also? And the rear shocks.

Re: Rear End Rumbling

I'm not quite sure how to check the traction control arms, but I can pretty much guarantee you the shocks need replacing. As far as I know they're stock from 1990, and I have 107k on the car.

I just honestly wasn't sure what is causing the problem, and while I know I have to replace a lot of suspension parts on the car, I want to replace the major problems first.

I just figured if the bushings were bad on the panhard, they could be bad on the tca's also, as far as first things first, check and or change your shocks before anything.

Yeah shocks are the next thing I'm going to be replacing as soon as I get the money together for them.

Edit: Replaced shocks, it's all fixed now.
